Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Wednesday, December 21, 2022 No comments

Whew!  November and December seems to have flown by.  I was unable to get a post out for Turkey month due to our family coming down with Covid.  It was a booger y'all!  Anyway, I wanted to hop on here real quick to let everyone know about a new craft I created.  I'm a little late to the party, but it's super cute and fun to do with your class or kids at home.

Bring Joy to your classroom and hallways with this cute Merry & Bright holiday craft! What I love about this activity is that it allows your students to tell you how they shine bright.

This bulletin board packet includes writing templates with multiple handwriting line choices, Christmas tree and star, and bulletin board lettering for "Our Class is Merry & Bright". For a better look, click the picture below and it will take you to my TPT  store where you can preview what is included in the packet. Just print, color, laminate or you can print on Astrobright paper like I did below.  It super simple to assemble and looks incredible hanging on the wall.  I hope you enjoy it!

Have a blessed and wonderful Holiday season!

Hello September!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend.  Our weekend was pretty uneventful. It was mostly rainy here, so we stayed home, watched movies, played games and grilled out.  It was great to relax and spend some quality time with my family.

While I had a little down time, I added editable classroom labels for my future students and thought you might be interested in this for your classroom too. There isn't much to prep.  All you do is add your student's name, print and laminate. Next you can tape or hot glue the labels to your students desk. There is also a ruler and multiplication table for students to reference. Enjoy! Xoxo Sonja

Back To School!

Saturday, July 9, 2022 No comments

Summer has been a blast, but it's flying by y'all!  Once we are past 4th of July it's time to start getting prepped for back to school.  Most of the districts here in Tennessee start back first week of August and there are a few that start as early as July 18th and 25th.  The reason for this is because they take more breaks during the school year here.

I follow Kristen Donegan from Easy Teaching Tools.  You can follow Kristen here @easyteachingtools.  Last week Kristen posted a quote on Facebook that really resonated with me. Check it out below.

I couldn't agree more! Like many in education, I've had the privilege of working with so many amazing kids along my journey.  I just love those sweet faces and incredible personalities, and it can be hard to say goodbye.

Thinking about this quote, I decided to create a back to school activity for students when they return.  It's from the book called Our Class Is A Family, by author Shannon Olsen.  You can follow Shannon here @lifebetweensummers

This is a perfect back to school book and craft to help with initiating classroom community, establishing expectations, and to build positive relationships with your students. Below I've added a couple of ideas to create a beautiful and fun bulletin board.  I think adding you own "sugar and spice" to make it fit your classroom is what makes this so fun!

Here is how it works:

1. Read the book OUR CLASS IS A FAMILY.

2. Have kids cut out all parts and glue them to construction paper.
(I like to cut the construction paper to fit the house, so there is no excess paper when hanging them on the bulletin board.)

3.  Have kids write on writing pages.

4. Have kids color house, draw a portrait of themselves and sign name below.

5. Print out kids pictures and cut and glue to house.

6.I have added large and small letters for the heading to add to houses and bulletin board.

That's it!  Just print, cut, color, glue and staple. To get this activity click here. Link to book here.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
