Sight Word Learning Mats

Tuesday, September 3, 2019

Happy Fall y'all!  Umm...where did August go?  I feel like I blinked and then all of the sudden it became September!  I'm definitely ready for some cooler weather, but in the mean time, I'm waiting out Hurricane Dorian.  Due to the hurricane, we are out of school this week, so I decided to put together a  sight word mat activity.  I can't wait to use these mats in the classroom once school is back in session.

The items you need after laminating the mats are an Expo Dry Erase Marker, a paper towel or cloth to wipe with, and Pom Poms to build each word.

I am going to show you two different ways I did this activity.  The first way is by printing on card stock and laminating.  The second way is to print as a worksheet.

I prefer to laminate the mats, because they can be reused over and over again.  I like to use ASTROBRIGHTS or you can use regular card stock

Trace it, Write it, Find it, Build it!

In the picture below my daughter is using pom poms to build the word, but you can use whatever you works for your classroom. I also like to use skittles as a treat. The kids love them!:)

If you are printing this activity as a worksheet you will need a Glue StickFiskars scissors, and Crayons.

That's it!  There are 45 sight words to choose from.  If you're interested in this activity you can find it here.  I hope these work for your class or homeschoolers.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact me here.

Thank you so much and have a fabulous school year!
